Bears have twice gotten into the legal trouble for drugs
With linebacker JT Thomas facing drug charges in West Virginia, Scandal has once again rocked the Chicago Bears. This is the second time in recent months that a player from the Bears has gotten into legal trouble for drugs. What is the responsibility of our players to maintain their image for the team and for the sake of young fans? Though Thomas was charged with carrying less than 15 grams of marijuana, which seems like a small amount. Cheap Jay Cutler Jerseys on wholesale. Every player knows that it should go without saying that every NFL player should at the very least steer clear of breaking the law, once he steps onto the field in an NFL jersey that there will be many young people looking at him, potentially as a role model. Why is it such a big deal that a little-known player from the Bears is facing charges for a small possession case? Thomas was arrested while on a road trip for his charity foundation which promotes, among other thing, leadership. The irony of a player showing poor leadership while on a trip to promote that very thing while on an outing for his charity is just flabbergasting to say the least. Of course, JT Thomas is not the most extreme example of an NFL player finding himself on the wrong side of the law, and all of the facts have not been made public yet. Johnny Knox Jerseys at competitive price with a huge quantity. He has yet to receive his day in court, so we can only assume that he is innocent until proven otherwise. Thomas will not be the most scandalous player to have ever played in the NFL, or even on the Bears roster even if he is convicted. Sam Hurd can claim that distinction based on his recent drug arrest. Thomas just completed his rookie year, which he spent the entirety of unable to play due to a back injury. Perhaps the fact that he spent a season on the injured reserve made him lose sight of what is important. It is a shame that he has tarnished his image with the NFL before he was ever able to shine. Well, he could smoke as much weed as he wanted for pain, legally if he was unable to play due to a back injury and he lived in California. To attemtp to show any equivalency with Hurd's intent to become a drug dealing kingpin is beyond pathetic. And the broken record belief that professional players are role models is insane. They have a job they are hired to do in the entertainment industry. Nothing more, nothing less. If they choose to do good in the world and use their talent and job as a platform, great. If a kid is impressed by that, great. If they squander their talent and fortunes with bad decisions, who cares. If a kid is impressed with that, fine. Remember, even bad decisions and mistakes by celebrities are teachable moments with kids by modeling the wrong behavior, too. We do not know these atheletes any more than we think we know movie stars or rock starts, etc. They are all in the entertainment business, not in the character development business. Providing a huge range of Julius Peppers Jerseys, with different styles and sizes. If nothing else, stories like this remind us that they are, in fact, regular people who happen to have amazing talents/gifts that put them in the spotlight. Whatever the case, my life did not change for a second because JT Thomas got caught with a small amount of weed.News for Tuesday 14 February, 2012
